CHARLES P. ROGERS BED BLOG Life in, and out of, the bedroom…… Return to Our Main Site Make Your Calming Bedroom for Staying Home Posted on April 15, 2020 by timD Your bedroom should always be your sanctuary. But now more than ever, it’s important to carve out a comforting, beautiful space in your home for rest. Your bedroom should be an expression of you, and the place you feel most comfortable. We have some tips to turn your bedroom into a calming space, most of which can be done with what you already have. Start with a good base The most important thing in your bedroom is – you guessed it – the bed! Make sure your bed is to your style and liking-you should love it and be drawn to it when you walk in the room. Your mattress should also be comfortable and inviting to you. If you’re uncomfortable in your bed, your bedroom will become a source of frustration rather than rest. Do a Deep Clean and Declutter Declutter all of your surfaces for a more calming atmosphere. Make sure your nightstand doesn’t have too much on it. Even just a dusting and vacuum can make you feel more comfortable in your space. If you can, try to not have work related things in the bedroom. If your desk is in your bedroom, at least keep your work away from your bed. Fill Your Walls With Something Meaningful Now is a great time to take stock of your wall art. Are colors clashing, detracting from a calming atmosphere? If you’re stuck at home, it can be fun to rearrange your wall art from another room for something new. Move meaningful things to the bedroom that make you feel calm and at home. Add Cozy Textiles Another opportunity to hack your own home is in your textiles. Move that ultra soft blanket from the living room to your bedroom. Bring in anything that makes you feel like your bedroom is a sanctuary. Add Some Plants While most of us are housebound, it’s important to bring the outdoors in. Transfer some of your plants to your bedroom, or pot some new ones, to breathe better at night and foster a calming environment. Pay Attention to Your Senses Make sure the light levels are low when you’re trying to sleep-make sure there’s no displays glowing or light coming in from outside. Play some calming music, or turn on ocean sounds to sleep to. Pick a comforting signature scent for your room-try things like lavender or vanilla. For this time of year-Rogers likes to live by the mantra: happy guest equals happy host. Read on to find some tips and tricks to deck out a guest room we know will make your family happy. Upgrade your linens Guests don’t want to feel like they’re sleeping on the old linens you rejected from your master. Invest in some new, quality linens for your guest room to keep things feeling hotel fresh. Rogers has a collection of comfy sheets that elevate any bed. Make space for guest’s belongings Clear off a dresser, or place a cute side table for your guests to spread out on. Even consider having some empty dresser drawers for longer stays, where they might want to unpack their suitcase completely. Having their own space for their things makes guests feel more at home. Get some fresh flowers Having some fresh flowers, or even fresh greenery (eucalyptus or monstera leaves) leaves your guests feeling like you went the extra mile to prepare for their arrival. Little touches like this makes them feel even more welcome and cared for. Consider a Daybed While having dedicated space for your guests is important for their wellbeing-you need space for yourself too! If you have a smaller space, opt for a daybed with a pop up trundle. It will pull out to the width of a king, but doesn’t take up much space when guests aren’t there. Have a nice mattress! Ok, we might be biased here. But we think the single best thing you can do for your guests is to have a comfy mattress. This will leave them feeling refreshed, and like you care enough about them to give them an optimal sleep surface. Our St. Regis mattress is the perfect option for a guest room. While it doesn’t break the bank, it provides the signature Rogers comfort and support that is in all of our mattresses. Posted in Bedroom Design | 7 Comments Why does Rogers use Nano springs? Posted on September 11, 2019 by timD When designing our Lifetime mattresses, Rogers sought out comfort materials that would actually last a lifetime. It can be difficult to find a cushion that is not only soft, but supportive and long lasting. Cue Nano springs. Nano springs are just like regular mattress springs but small. Shockingly small. They only stand about an inch high, and are about an inch in diameter. Just like our Powercore unit, Nano springs are individually pocketed and assembled into a large sheet. We use sheets of Nano springs as comfort layers in our mattresses-they provide extra cushion on top of our Powercore unit. Nano springs are a vastly superior comfort layer to pretty much anything else out there-they’re a plush, pillowey cushion made of an extremely durable material. It’s something that sounds too good to be true, but thankfully isn’t. They’re great at cushioning your pressure points, but they also give even back support since your weight is distributed among thousands of tiny Nano springs. This leaves you feeling suspended, like you’re floating. You’ll never have that I’m sinking too far in and I’m stuck” feeling-it’s just pure, easy comfort. The other major advantage to Nano springs is their durability. A sheet of Nano springs is made from steel, meaning it’s nearly impossible for it to break down. It will remain a supportive cushion for years and years, with zero maintenance. No fluffing, no cleaning. If we’ve convinced you-try out our Nano spring layers in our Lifetime mattress. We swear you’ll never go back to traditional comfort materials again. Posted in Uncategorized | 8 Comments Transitioning Your Bedroom for Fall Posted on August 29, 2019 by timD You walk into your local home store on a late August afternoon, overheated from the thick humidity outside. You begin your browsing only to come upon a new tabletop display featuring the blacks, oranges and skeletons of Halloween. Most of us are still trying to soak up the last bits of summer radiance in August, and the hues of Autumn displayed in the stores are pretty shocking. But the truth is, fall is right around the corner. And it doesn’t have to be a bad thing-with fall comes some of the finest home decor. Read on for some tips on transitioning your bedroom to embrace the change of seasons. Layer Light Textiles As the nights get (a little) cooler, layer some lightweight blankets on your bed. The extra texture will bring in the fall coziness without being too heavy. As the weather gets even colder, you can switch out the light layers for the thicker knits we all associate with fall. Add Some Warm Lighting As the sunset comes earlier and earlier, add some soft, warm lighting around your bedroom. It’s great for late summer nights, and even better for the chilly fall evenings in. Decorate with soft whites and deep colors It’s time to ditch the bright hues of summer and embrace some more neutrals that can easily be added to as the seasons change. Start with some light neutrals, greens and deep blues and transition to the more classic oranges and yellows later in the season. Bring in some nature This is a great time of year to bring in some clippings from outside in small vases, or add seasonal plants like mums or hydrangea. Sunflowers are a great choice for this time of the year. As the months go on, switch out green cuttings for pinecones and gourds.
